INDIA'S PARTITION AND PRINCELY STATES....... THE OTHERSIDE

PRINCES and PARTITION:

PEEP INTO PAST

Q: Concept of Paramountcy and how Princely India came under British umbrella ?

A:Lord Wellesley was Governor General of India between 1797 and 1805. In that eight years he concluded almost 100 treaties with Indian princes. The concept of paramountcy  led to the establishment of Princely order in India. Wellesley’s policy of subsidiary alliances was an umbrella thought brought princely states in the defensive alliance and mutual guarantee. So when India awaited Independence in August 15th of 1947, it had to break its head over 564 princely states.

Q: When British Prime Minister Atlee announced the policy decision on 20th February 1947 to withdraw from India by June 1948, what was the scenario in India ?

A: Let me quote The Times London “ Muslim separatism is deriving encouragement from the language of the white paper.” The Princes started dreaming of Third Dominion. Winston Churchill named it as Princestan. The Chancellor of the Chamber of Princes Nawab of Bhopal asked the Princes not to immediately decide joining Indian Constituent Assembly but to wait and watch. Nawab of Bhopal inducted pro-Pakistani officials in the Secretariat of the Chamber. He made a Pakistani Mohammed Zafrullah as his constitutional adviser. Indore was with Bhopal, Jodhpur too joined the bandwagon. With the blessings of Jinnah and with the backing of the Secretary of the Political Department Sir Conrad Cornfield it seems Princely India will be separate entity once India got independence.

Q: Among the princely states who declared independence first, and who changed his colours like chameleon and headed a committee to ban political parties that sought separatism ?
A: Diwan of Travancore Sir C.P.Ramasamy Iyer declared on May 9th of 1947 that on the lapse of Paramountcy on August 15th  simultaneously with the transfer of power to India, Travancore would declare herself a free and independent State. The wily Brahmin was arrogant that in Delhi he even declined the invitation for lunch extended by Sardar Patel. Sardar Patel directly spoke to the Maharaja over telephone in commanding tone. The question, who is standing in your way ? made the Maharaja shiver in fear and he conveyed his decision to accede to India.

Q: How all the princely states were brought into the Indian umbrella ? To whom the credit should go ?

A: Definitely not to Nehru. The credit to make 562 princely states accede to India rests on the shoulders of Sardar Patel. In June 1946 Patel spelt his policy: “ The time has arrived when it is necessary for Indian people to deal with the States problem on the basis of collective approach to the Princes as a whole and not to fritter away their energies in isolated battles”.  Mountbatten too facilitated by declaring separate  negotiations with each and every princely state is ruled out.

Q:Plundering natural resources and land scams are not new, even in British India such things happened, and even in independent India it continues, especially in naxal infected Bastar. Tell about this ?

A: In September 1946, Bastar had a Raja who was a minor and weakling and a foreigner as its Prime Minister. Bastar had and has rich mineral resources. Then it was mortgaged to Hyderabad State for a long lease. Patel took up the issue with the Political Department of the British. He was told that as the guardian of the minor prince, foreigner Prime Minister can enter into mortgaging a whole state. Patel saw the Prince of Bastar and said “ I felt it was a sin to make him sign such agreement. It was then that I was made fully conscious of the extent to which our interests were prejudiced in every way by the machinations of the Political Department and came to the conclusion the sooner we were rid of these people the better. Their main aim was to further their interests and to cause much damage to India as possible. I came to the conclusion that the best course was to drive out foreigners even at the cost of partition of the country. It was also then that I felt that there was only one way to make the country safe and strong.. and that was unification of rest of India.

Q: What did Dr.B.R.Ambedkar suggest when Partition became inevitable ? What happened during partition ? What did Ambedkar think on Gandhiji’s attitude at that time ?

A: Dr.Ambedkar proposed partition with complete transfer of the population of the Hindus and Muslims from their respective zones to avert blood shed. As he feared partition brought unprecedented blood shed with mass exodus of 7.30 million Hindu and Sikh refugees to India. Ambedkar felt why did Gandhi never went to fast to prevent Partition, in spite of saying again and again that India can be partitioned only over his dead body ?

SUPREME COURT FAILED FARMERS IN RIVER INTERLINK CASE......GODS ALONE CAN SAVE FARMERS

SUPREME COURT FAILED FARMERS
 IN RIVER INTERLINKING CASE

Farmers have become a forgotten tribe in our corporate democracy. The dream to interlink Indian rivers for which then President of India Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam paid lip service in a Republic Day speech had been laid to rest by recent Supreme Court order, reported in The Times of India, reproduced in verbatim below :

Supreme Court had expressed inability to direct the Government of India to pump in 5 lakh crore this year to start the river interlink project.

Nandhivarman's petition rejected in admission stage, then he wrote in New Times Observer in Tamil Pongal special issue and posted to President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, who spoke in Republican Day speech. Then lawyers of Delhi filed the case on which the above observation came from Supreme Court.

According to the Stolen Asset Recovery initiative of the World Bank and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime published in 2011, titled Puppet Masters reminds us that Indian rulers are mere puppets and puppeteers are multi-national companies and other mafias.

If only people with conscience can ask, why our stolen assets could not be brought back to finance the river inter-link project it would awaken the rulers from slumber and lethargy. Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam who should have raised repeatedly the inter-link of rivers conveniently forgot once out of power.

Our rivers are diverted by China. Our Himalayan glaciers are melting year after year. North India faces flood fury without fail in every year. Our rivers are emptying in our seas. Farmers have no water left for agriculture.

As per 2003 statistics of World Commission of Dams China tops with 22,000 dams. America follows with 6575 dams, India has 4291 dams and tiny Japan is with 2675 dams. These dams not only cater to agricultural needs but also generate power.

The head waters of most of the major rivers of Asia are in Tibet, so damming them could have implications downstream, said Aviva Imhof, campaign director of International Rivers Org.

Our Brahmaputra starts in South West Tibet as Yarlung Tsango River and flows through Southern Tibet and crosses through Himalayas and reaches our Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh assuming the name Dihang. From South West of Assam valley it is known as Brahmaputra. It has Amouchu, Raidak, Sankosh, Nans, Bhareli, Dibang, Luhit, Burhiding, Dihing, Kameng, Manas, Yamuna, Teesta, Rangeet, Lachung, Darla, Jaldhaka as its tributaries. This Brahmaputra is diverted within Chinese territory as picture depicts. But in spite of that Arunachal Pradesh faces flood fury every year.

To manage the floods in Arunachal Pradesh, India prepared a plan and sought assistance from Asian Development Bank. China raised objections in June 2009 after Asian Development Bank’s Board of Directors and member countries endorsed a Country partnership strategy for 2009-2012 which included Arunachal project. The bank withdrew the project. Our Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, sudden lobbyist of Koodankulam project did not raise any voice even over the Chinese intervention in flood management of Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Our river waters should not be used by our farmers, and Indian rulers have put river interlink project in cold storage, only to redeem it on the day corporate farming catches in India. There cannot be any other reason to be debating beyond 4 decades river inter linking, and the failure of which results in flood furies year after year.

Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam being a scientist will proudly proclaim that astronomers of California Institute of Technology  have discovered a mass of water vapour that is 140 trillion times that all of the water in the worlds oceans combined and 100000 times more massive than the Sun, according to Astrophysical Journal Letters.

May be our farmers can take bullock carts and women can carry mud pots to the Quasar APM 08279+5255, which harbours a black hole 20 billion times more massive than the Sun and produces as much energy as thousand trillion Suns.

After the Supreme Court observation that 5 lakh crore could not be spent to inter-link rivers Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam the man who in office supported this project must have spoken, why he remained silent and mouth shut in this matter while openly advocating Koodankulam project, people have right to question his credentials.

The Drivers and Dynamics of Illicit Financial Flows from India: 1948-2008 published by Global Financial Integrity states the total value of illicit assets held abroad represents 72% of India’s underground economy. Estimated around $213 million in 2008 it would be around $ 462 million now.

If this or partial amount of this had been brought back Supreme Court need not have expressed inability to direct the Government of India to cough up 5 lakh crore for interlinking of rivers.

As one who through by 4 decade friend Comrade George Fernandes who got River interlink project inducted into the Election manifesto of National Democratic Alliance and one who first knocked the Supreme Court, which even the Times of India news mentions, I would appeal to great personalities like Anna Hazare, Sri Sri, Ramdev, and our APJ.Abdul Kalam to force the Government to start the river interlink project by bringing back hoarded black money  to provide water to our farmers and boost our agrarian economy.

DEATH OF NATIONS AND DISINTEGRATION OF STATES IN INDIA

DEATH OF NATIONS AND DISINTEGRATION
 OF STATES IN INDIA

Kenichi Ohmae wrote a book The End of The Nation State. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayavathi is desperate to come back to power weathering the storm of people’s anger and had suddenly mooted the idea of disintegrating the biggest state in India.

We who view global politics will recall past history. Colonialism led to the formation of nation states. USA became an independent country in 1776. Former colonies of Spain and Portugal got liberation and in between 1810 to 1844, seventeen new states emerged in Latin America. Italy became a nation state in 1861. Canada in 1867. These were days when nations came into existence liberating from monarchies and moving towards democracy. Chin dynasty in China, monarchy in Japan, Ottoman Empire in Turkey and Mogul Empire in India were breathing amidst democracies.

The book Rise and Expansion of British Power in India by Theodore Morrison states that British came to India seeking wealth and commercial chances and in the beginning they never had the intention to capture this country and rule it. Similarly the multi nationals have started to arrive in India seeking wealth and markets. History will repeat and they too will capture Indian states. With many companies competing to grab markets, Indian states are heading for disintegration. Each multi-national or cartel want exclusive hunting ground for profits. In these connection Chinese companies wooing BJP Chief Minister Narendra Modi and China inviting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for Buddhist conference has definitely a hidden agenda. The visit of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Tamilnadu recently and the awaited invitation to Tamilnadu’s dictator in democratic garb Ms.J.Jayalalitha is to get foothold for more American companies to capture the market in Tamilnadu.

In 1577 Sir Francis Drake and in 1586 Thomas Coventick travelled successfully around the globe and secured space for Portuguese and Spanish in Indian market.

Even before these two Vas coda Gama had reached India via Point of Good Hope in 1497 Portuguese were the first in grabbing South East Asian market.

It is only in 1596 British Queen invested money in overseas ventures as a result of which Sir Robert Dudley’s vessels set to sail towards India. British traders took hue and in 1599 appealed to Privy Council seeking government’s sanction to float a company. Around 1600, British Queen consented for the formation of The Company of London merchants for Business in East India. After sanction shares were collected from the people. 217 persons contributed 68,373 pounds. Under the leadership of Sir Lancaster five ships namely Mare, Scourge, Hector, Ascension, Gift and Susan started their first voyage and missed India but landed in Java where they set up their first trading centre.  The second voyage by Henry Middleton too failed to touch India. Those share holders in London who invested in these two voyages got two hundred percent profit. Determined to anyhow reach India, in 1607 John Hawkins started his journey. He reached India and met Mogul Emperor Shajhahan at Agra. He gave the letter of British Monarch seeking permission to set up trade posts in India. After three years of stay in Agra, he obtained in principle approval of the Mogul rule to start a business company in Surat of current Gujarat State.

The Mogul Emperor might have thought only a company is arriving similarly our Manmohan Singh is dreaming multi-nationals are here for only business and wont unseat him.

Portuguese came in 1500 and British, a century later. “The East India Company was founded in 1600 to sell British woolen cloth to India. Their ships arrived in Surat in 1608 with vast quantities of broad cloth but the trade soon faltered and died out. What changed their fortunes was the discovery of cotton which was completely unknown in Europe” wrote Rosemary Crill of V&A Museum of London.  Three scholars Ms.Crill, Ruth Barnes and Steven Cohen in their book Trade, Temple and Court: Indian Textiles from Tapi Collection report that Millions worth of Indian cotton arrived in England so much so that the wool and linen weavers began to protest and law prohibiting the import of Indian textiles was passed in 1700.

See how our weavers were of world class in 1700 which made British weavers protest and British monarchy pass law preventing import of Indian textiles. Our soil that grew cotton which enriched our farmers and made our weavers a matter of envy to British weavers have lost their livelihood with East India Company sneaking into India and unknowingly Mogul Emperor gave them a foothold here.

Similarly when P.V.Narasimha Rao’s and his Finance Minister Manmohan Singh when they signed in GATT, were not aware that India’s democracy will be hijacked and be subverted into corporate democracy. Now in 2011 we realize the after effects of April 15th of 1994.

If we look at our democracy we would be able to notice centralization of powers in Union Government converting States into municipalities. This trend continued as long as few multi-nationals found concentration of power in Center beneficial and useful for their interests. They could manipulate the players directly or with the help of lobbyists like Nira Radia.

The beeline made by many nations and its multi-nationals led to diversion of these corporate towards various states of India. I would like to recall my meeting with NDA Government’s Finance Minister in his residence where I went with a 15 political party memorandum welcoming the introduction of Uniform Sales Tax in the UT of Puducherry.  Yaswant Sinha said that Europe started with various currencies but had arrived at a common market, but we in India have a common currency but could not arrive at Indian Common market. This situation helped corporate to lobby with State Chief Ministers or their wives/concubines/sons/daughters/ to create a favorable climate for them to set foot in that state. As an extension of this game-plan, now through UP Chief Minister Mayawathi, these corporate want to break UP and create 4 new states in Indian Union.

If we could go back to pages of history we can find that States Re-Organization Commission had given its verdict against break up of Uttar Pradesh, though one of its Keralite member K.M.Panikker recorded his dissent. Ironically it is the Congress which is now in dilemma over Mayavathi’s game plan, while debating an electoral debacle in UP formed a Committee under K.Karunakaran to study the reasons and it is this committee then suggested creation of 4 semi-autonomous units for UP Congress Committee. Yes a prelude to state break up, AICC contemplated party break up in UP. Though entire working committee of Congress endorsed this till date Congress is dilly dallying over creation of 4 units for 4 regions of UP.

Are we going back to break up of Indian states based on early princely states and loyalties to those past memories? Are we going to break bigger state that could send more members to Parliament so that the clout of UP in Union Government could be weakened?

In 1923 Europe had 23 states with 18,000 kilometers of borders but by 2004 it had broken into 50 states with 40,000 kilometers of borders. So Kenichi Ohmae in his book The End of Nation State argues that advance of markets and economic inter-dependence will see nation states being largely replaced by city states. Are we going towards that goal to turn Indian Union into city states numerically more than princely states?

The forthcoming winter session of Parliament should be used by political parties to deeply debate the trend involved in break up of UP to begin with..
Dravida Peravai endorses the stand taken by Akilesh Yadav M.P, leader of UP Samajwadi Party against break up of Uttar Pradesh.

MASS CAMPAIGN ON PANCHAYATI RAJ : VASUDEVARAJU I.A.S

                                 MASS CAMPAIGN ON PANCHAYATI RAJ
                                       DURING ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS

Panchayati Raj was included in the Constitution of India on 01-06-1993. Since then training programmes are held all over the country covering elected representatives of Panchayats and Municipalities and officials. But there is no programme on a large scale to cover the common people who have to actively participate in Gram Sabha and Ward Sabha. Power should not be enjoyed only by the members of Panchayats and Municipalities. Power of the people should emanate from Gram Sabha and Ward Sabha and the elected Panchayats and Municipalities have to be under the control of the people which is possible only by the active functioning of Gram Sabha and Ward Sabha in day-to-day affairs of the village or town.

There has been no large scale mass campaigns to inform and educate the masses on Panchayati Raj and also the students, self-help groups. The media both print and visual do not give importance to Panchayati Raj. They are indifferent to discharge their duty in this area. The Himalayan example of this indifference or mischievous disregard is the TOTAL BLACK OUT carried by the media both print and visual of the historic event of District and Block Panchayat Presidents Conference held in April 2008 at Delhi. Though it was held for three days attended by ministers of Panchayati Raj from all States (Tamilnadu did not participate) and about five hundred reporters covered the event on all three days and Prime Minister and Chairperson of National Advisory Council participated and Prime Minister was presented the FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY CHARTER ON PANCHAYATI RAJ by the Lady Chairman of Pattanamthitta District Panchayat (Kerala) which was prepared by the Core Committee from March 2008 and approved by the April 2008 Conference the media did not report it to the public. Not a single word appeared in the media about this great meet of the Grassroots leaders. Why? Is this a conspiracy against Panchayati Raj.

Be that as it may, Puducherry Panchayat Movement (PPM) realized that we cannot rely on the media to inform and educate the masses on Panchayati Raj and all those committed to strengthening Panchayati Raj in the country have to do the “COMPENSATORY WORK” when the media has failed in playing its role.

Legislative Assembly elections was announced on March 1,2011 for Puducherry and Tamilnadu. Poll was scheduled on April 13. PPM thought this is the right time to carry out the MASS AWARENESS CAMPAIN in Puduherry and

Tamilnadu. A paper on APRIL 13 ELECTION was prepared. Since the media will not cover it by news reports it was decided to publish the paper as an ADVERTISEMENT. Since publishing in daily news papers is costly it was decided to publish the paper in popular weeklies and Bi-Weeklies and Monthly journals. A search was made to select the weeklies which are popular and cost-effective. PPM does NOT receive grants from government or any other source though is is active since 1992. One or two individuals have borne the financial responsibility.

Five weekly/bi-weekly magazines were selected. They are NAKKIRAN, THUKLAK, KUMUDAM REPORTER, NETTRIKAN and the monthly PADAM.  Full page Ads of the paper was published. KUMUDAM REPORTER informed that it is not possible to cover in a page and published the AD in one and a half page after our approval. These five magazines have a TOTAL CIRCULATION of TWELVE LALKS copies and they are sold both in Tamilnadu and Puducherry and outside including a few countries abroad.

The Assembly Election is on April 13. The Ads appeared in the magazines  which were on sale from 3rd to 9th April well before the Assembly Poll Date.
In addition to the Ads in magazines we printed TEN THOUSANDS leaflets of the paper for distribution among the public.

The salient points covered in the paper are as follows:   Definition of Democracy by Abraham Lincoln and Gandhi’s idea of Village Swaraj, Total Number of MPs and MLAs in the country,  Total Number of  elected representatives in the three categories of Panchayats, Failure of State Governments and Political Parties to strengthen Panchayat Raj, major misdeeds of the state governments in TamilNadu and Puducherry that weaken Panchayati Raj . People were advised to ask the candidates and their political party leaders when they come for canvassing “what is the policy and programme of his party to strengthen panchayati Raj”. They were advised to reject the candidates who do not give satisfactory reply.

The major points highlighted are:  Total number of persons in the country who are MLAs and MPs is only 4910   But the total number of Panchayat Representatives  is more than 28 Lakhs who are not given powers to fulfill their

responsibilities. Union and State Governments are “DISTANT GOVERNMENTS”. But the Panchayats are “NEAREST GOVERNMENTS”. State governments cannot solve their problems. But the Panchayats can solve their problems immediately.

The magazines in which the AD was published take care of the distribution  all over the country.  LEAFLET DISTRIBUTION was the responsibility of PPM. How we did this Job?

On April 3 Sunday we proceeded to VILLUPPURAM 40 KMs from Pondicherry. At Villuppuram we spent about three hours at the RAILWAY  JUNCTION, where the trains stop for ten minutes, distributing to the passengers in each coach. Ten of us formed the TEAM and each one covered Two coaches. Thus it reached people traveling to various destinations. We covered the Chennai-Guruvayur Express bound for Guruvayur via Nagerkoil and Thiruvananthapuram, the Vaigai Express bound for Chennai, Tirupathi  Express passing through Katpadi and a few other local trains. After 1 PM we went to the Villuppuram Bus Station and distributed the leaflet to all passgers sitiing in the buses bound for Chennai, Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Bangalore, Salem, Coimbatore, Erode, Madurai, Dindugal, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Kumbakonam, Chidambaram etc. Thus our leaflet reached places from Chennai to Kanyakumari etc within a day. We were happy to see people reading it immediately after receiving it both in the train and buses. On our way back to Pondicherry we distributed the leaflet in all villages stopping for  about five minutes.

The leaflet was also sent to Chief Secretaries, Chief Electoral officers and Ditrict Collectors of both the state/Ut by post  and also to the ministers and political parties and leading Civic Society Organisations. In Pondicherry it was distributed in the Bazaar, Beach, Bus Station etc on 9th April.  On 10th April the Human Rights Organisation  arranged a MARCH to all villages in Puducherry to appeal for 100% polling and PPM joined them and distributed the leaflet.

The leaflet was exhausted on 11th April forenoon and PPM also completed the MASS CAMPAIGN in the evening of April 11 to adhere to Election Commission Schedule..

RESPONSE
From 4th April moblile calls are received from people who have read the leaflet from all over Tamilnadu and even from MUMBAI etc. They are Marketing personnel,  Bank Staff,  Journalists,  Dalit activists,  NGOs,  Retired govt employees including ex-Police personnel,  Security Staff,  Hotel owners,  Merchnts, Farmers etc.  Surprisingly NO CALL from Teachers and Lecturers till March 10th night.

Two local weeklies sought our approval to print the AD in their Election Issues as news report and we agreed on condition that no payment will be made.
An elderly person with Gandhian Ideology came in person on 10th April morning and offered to serve the PPM to expand the coverage of its activities though out Tamilnadu. Many who spoke on phone offered their services in their area. All those who spoke on phone expressed their happiness about the leaflet and its contents and stated that when the people are thinking for an alternative to the present political situation the leaflet of the PPM has shown the direction.  They also stated that no body informed them before about Panchayati Raj and thanked the PPM for doing it through Ads in the popular magazines at the ridht time.

Both at the Railway junction and Bus Station we did not see the leaflet on the ground anywhere after hours of distribution.

The staff of the advertisement division of the magazines during interaction while it is getting printed expressed that the AD is highly useful to the public and well written  and they are happy on reading it. We just reacted “ If it is so useful to the public why not the magazines publish them without getting money from us and perform their social responsibility”. The staff responded that they would gladly do if they have powers.

PPM appeals that all those interested in PanchayatiRaj take it to the people directly and gain POPULAR SUPPORT as the State Governments will not act by themselves.

An English translation of the leaflet is under preparation and will be made available to all those who need it.

In sum, we are extremely happy that the people are happy about this maiden attempt of MASS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN of PPM during ASSEMBLY ELECTION which they say is well chosen.

ILLUMINATE INDIAN VILLAGES WITH CLEAN POWER FROM MOON THROUGH JAPANESE TECHNOLOGY

SAY NO TO 20 ATOMIC POWER PLANTS:

LET INDIA JOIN JAPAN TO

BRING POWER FROM MOON

Dr.Manmohan Singh who subverted all decencies and nuances of Parliamentary democracy using Amar Singh to seduce Member of Parliaments to get his bill passed is an ardent advocate of World Bank prescriptions and dictates of multi-national companies. His double game stand exposed in Koodankulam. Close on the heels of an eye-wash Central delegation to pacify the people who are protesting he had initiated back door conspiracies hand in glove with Tamilnadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha to foist 80 or more cases on the social activists and is contemplating of clamping National Security Act on these protestors. Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam for whom entire Tamils across continents had regard overnight became another Amar Singh to help Manmohan Singh in his game for nuclear power.

After Koodankulam now it is Karnataka’s Kaiga power project which faces people’s ire. First the credit goes to people of Maharashtra who launched their mass movement against Jaitapur power project. Totally 20 nuclear power projects are in various stages of completion and operation in India. The advocates of nuclear power plants have failed to take note of what Japan does in the aftermath of a calamity in their nuclear power plant.

Let me quote from May 28 th 2011 The Times of India on a story about Japanese scientists unveiling plans to turn the moon into a gigantic mirror-ball manned by robots to provide all the Earth’s energy needs. The ambitious project would result in 13,000 terawatts of continuous solar energy being transmitted back to receiving stations on Earth either by laser or microwave, reports TOI.

Japanese construction giant Shimizhu Corporation’s research division would result in an 11,000 kilometer long band stretching around the light side of the moon’s equator.

Daily Mail, quoting Shimizhu Corporation states that a shift from the economical use of limited resources to the unlimited use of clean energy is the ultimate dream of all mankind.

Virtually inexhaustible, non-polluting solar energy is the ultimate source of green energy that brings prosperity to Nature as well as to our lives, and when Japan had taken steps in this direction why cant Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam advice the Dr.Manmohan Singh Prime Minister of Corporate India to suggest to his Government agencies to go for tie-up with the Japanese corporation and plan well ahead of other countries to light India with green energy. May be he can ask Madam Sonia Gandhi to make Indian National Congress, a Green’s party and join hands with other Green parties of Europe. A statesman is one who thinks ahead, who charts future course on the basis of bitter lessons, learnt from past and present.

When Japan had learnt, why cant India. It is the Japanese disaster that had generated genuine fears among Koodankulam area Tamil people. Let Prime Minister say we will convert Koodankulam Power Project into an Indo-Japanese Joint venture and work to bring green energy from Moon to India.

Say good-bye to Russia if you don’t want Indian people to say good bye to their precious lives. Koodankulam, Kaiga, Jaitapur and other nuclear power projects be converted into Indo-Japan joint ventures for clean green energy.

Let India illuminate its towns and villages with Green power from Moon

DRAVIDA PERAVAI QUESTIONS TO A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM ON POKRAN NUCLEAR TESTS

ATOMIC TESTS TRIGGER TSUNAMI AND

EARTH QUAKES

Open letter to Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam the new found lawyer for Koodankulam atomic power plant.

United States of America in between 16th July 1945 and 23rd September 1992 conducted 1054 nuclear tests in land and seas out of which 839 were underground tests. France in between 1966 to 1990 conducted 44 atmospheric nuclear tests and 123 underground nuclear tests in two atolls of French Polynesia known as Mururoa and Fangataufa.

Let me remind Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam about the case T-219/95 R against French Government by residents of French Polynesia in the year 1995. Marie Therese Danielson, Pierre Largenteau and Edwin Haoa residents of Tahiti in this case stated: “Nuclear tests caused a major underwater landslide at Mururoa in 1979 when a nuclear devise exploded. Since the geology of Mururoa is already unstable due to large scale fracturing caused by previous tests further landslides are likely. Such landslides in the past had given rise to  tsunamis causing coastal damage in areas as far away as Pitcairn and Tahiti endangering residences of many including Ms.Danielson, one of the petitioner. They can also release radio active material into the sea with catastrophic effects on the food chain in an area such as French Polynesia where fish is an important part of the diet.”

Atomic Scientist Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam may ignore these whistleblowers and may say in Koodankulam no nuclear test is being done. But first of all he must clarify his stand on underground nuclear tests. The French colonial masters did not conduct test within France. They chose a location whose people will not be aware of nuclear disasters. The nuclear test shifted approximately one million cubic meters of coral and rock and created a cavity that produced tsunami like tidal waves which struck Tuamotu Archipelago. French Government was in denial mode for many years but in 1985 publication admitted the accident of 25th July of 1979.

Dr.Kalam must answer this question? Under-ocean nuclear tests, is it justifiable and will he say tsunamis have no connectivity with under ground tests?

Continental drift- plate’s collision and under ground tests in geo-fracture zones:

Tamils lack sense of history. This inherent ingredient of the Tamil people is responsible for lack of recorded history at the time when every country woke up to construct its history on facts. We have to mainly depend on the literary evidences to write our history. The epic Silapathigaram gave us an insight into the landmass that is lost in the Indian Ocean. Will Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam brush this as literary imagination ?

"The theory of continental drift that the continents move relative to one another was proposed by Alfred Wegener in 1910. It was not until 1945 that Arthur Holmes suggested a mechanism for the process-convection in the mantle. Complete evidences to convince more scientists those plate tectonics the movement of larger segments of the outermost shell of the earth as a mosaic of large rigid plates was not accomplished until the 1960's...."

The Department of Geological Sciences of the Canadian University of Saskatchewan in its web pages states that Plate Tectonics is the unifying theory that explains almost all the processes at work on the planet. To understand the evolution of our planet and to have a coherent idea on earthquakes, volcanoes, mountain belts, ocean basins and the topography of the sea floor, scholars are relying on the theory of plate tectonics.

Alfred Wagener known as the Father of Continental drift in his publication of 1912 said that " Looking at a global map it would appear that the continents could be brought together to fit like a jig saw puzzle" Mankind is one and this stands proven once again by the geological fact that continents were together at one time and drifted apart. Now everyone accepts that as solid upper Earth floats on astheno-sphere, the litho-sphere drifts".

The Earths crust since its formative years dating back to 4.6 million years is in constant motion. "Broken into a patchwork of plates and floating on currents in the fluid visco-plastic upper mantle beneath, the plates continuously collide and pull apart. The continental crust is significantly less dense than either oceanic crust or the upper mantle rocks. Some more proofs are given below.

The formation of Himalayan Mountains is due to the fact that Indian sub-continent moving northwards buckling up material while colluding with the Asian continent. The scientists of the Earth Observatory of Columbia University New York confirm that the Indo-Australian plate south of Equator in the Indian Ocean area has broken into two and each is moving in one direction. In the last 50 million years Indian sub continent is drifting at 5 centimeters a year towards North. Tibetan plateau and Himalayas bear the brunt of this mounting pressure. The Altyn Tagh fault i.e. geo-fracture extends 2200 kilometers in Western China...........

DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM owes Indians particularly victims of Bhuj earthquake for conducting Pokran test in a geo-fracture area beginning in Gulf of Kutch extending to China where the weakened zone gave way to earth quake. Let him repent that than becoming soothsayer in Koodankulam

India conducted five nuclear tests 1 on May 11 and 13, 1998 at the Pokhran range in Rajasthan Desert.  The first three detonations took place simultaneously at 15=45 hrs. IST on May 11. These included a 45 kiloton thermonuclear device, a 15 kiloton fission device and a 0.2 sub-kiloton (i.e. less than one kiloton) device. The two nuclear devices detonated simultaneously on May 13 were also in the sub-kiloton range - 0.5 kiloton and 0.3 kiloton. The necessity for the simultaneous detonation of the thermonuclear device and the fission device on May 11 was due to the fact that the two shafts where these detonations were carried out were separated by only 1 kilometer. There was a concern that otherwise the shock wave from a detonation in one shaft may damage the second shaft and the equipment located therein. The inclusion of a sub-kiloton device in the third shaft a few kilometers away in the May 11 tests and the simultaneous detonation of the two sub-kiloton devices on May 13 were dictated by the advantages of convenience and speed.

DAMAGE DONE: NATURE WAITED TO RETALIATE:

 Weakened zone witnessed earthquake

The Mw7.6 Bhuj earthquake that shook the Indian Province of Gujarat on the morning of January 26, 2001 (Republic Day) is one of the two most deadly earthquakes to strike India in its recorded history. One month after the earthquake official Government of India figures place the death toll at 19,727 and the number of injured at 166,000. Indications are that 600,000 people were left homeless, with 348,000 houses destroyed and an additional 844,000 damaged. The Indian State Department estimates that the earthquake affected, directly or indirectly, 15.9 million people out of a total population of 37.8 million. More than 20,000 cattle are reported killed. Government estimates place direct economic losses at $1.3 billion. Other estimates indicate losses may be as high as $5 billion.

Doctor A.P.J.Abdul Kalam ji , I am not a Doctor because I was not chosen as Chief Minister of Tamilnadu to don the Honorary Doctor as Dr, which none in other countries do, but a Cn, yes citizen who questions you.

1. Do you say under ocean nuclear tests did not trigger tsunami?

2. Do you say the underground test at Pokran in the geo-fracture did not ignite Bhuj earthquake?

3. Do you keep away from becoming a lobbyist and preserve the public esteem you hold?

4. In Bay of Bengal every day Tamil fishermen are killed, instead of raising your voice against this genocide beyond borders and cross border terrorism of Srilankan navy, why suddenly you have come to hold brief for Koodamkulam power plant?
