During the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, through Comrade George Fernandes, to PMO and through Planning Commission Member Dr.S.B.Gupta , I had submitted may schemes to alleviate the sufferings of poverty stricken tribals, such as growing a plant himalayan yew which has anti cancer properties and was smuggled out of India through Burma. Atalji planned HIMALAYAN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY to give seeds to tribal villages and allow people to grow these trees, which later can be sold to market value and be patented and anti cancer drugs produced in India. George Fernandes mooted my name for the Chairmanship of this Authority. Suresh Prabhu from Shiva Sena was the other contender. Bureaucrats scuttled this scheme by saying instead of Himalayan Development Authority , Transnational Himalayan Authority should come. Congress regimes failed , we thought people oriented poverty eradication schemes will come up, sorry to say corporate democracy only has taken over India.
